The Importance of Timelines

Today we will be talking about the importance of timelines! Following a timeline is an essential part in ensuring couples receive a spectacular wedding video. The timeline maps out all of the exciting events like applying makeup, stepping into the dress, the first look, and more. Straying from the timeline can alter the rest of the day and the amount of footage we are able to shoot. For each wedding we meet with the couple two months prior to the day to discuss the timeline and what they want included. Recently we have had some challenges sticking to the timeline when makeup artists have not started at the scheduled time. Unfortunately, the entire flow of the wedding day rests upon the brides makeup being finished on time. Once we arrive we capture the bride’s makeup being applied along with details of her dress and jewelry. Unlike photography, video is motion and we need footage of the makeup actually being applied. Once the makeup is finished we go right into group shots, gift/card exchange, and the dress take down. If the makeup team runs late this causes us to run late for our ceremony start time. Therefore we will have to omit some of the other shots. For example, the church time-lapse and drone scenes will be taken off of the schedule. It is important that we arrive an hour early to set up microphones, time-lapses, drone shots, details, and the guests arriving. The more we are able to shoot, the better the final product will be. If something is thrown off schedule, then the rest of the day’s plan is affected. We want to create the best wedding film possible for the happy couples. This is why we stress the importance of following the timeline.
