Tips & Tricks for your Big Day

When you book your wedding videographer with Mike Picard Motion Pictures, we give our clients a folder with some helpful hints for the day of their wedding. These helpful hints include ways to make the day run smoother, such as scheduling out portions of the day more effectively, to what not to do during a ceremony or reception in order to avoid not-so-good content for your wedding video.

Today, we just want to briefly discuss some suggestions that can make a difference to the bride prep portion of your day, and in result, create a more appealing and meaningful video. There are many sections of a wedding day that we could tackle, but we are choosing this one in particular because it's what has caught our eye the most in our latest editing. Phones! We all love our phones; us included. However, when we are filming the bride getting ready with her bridesmaids, maid of honor, mom, and other significant members, we are constantly getting content of the everyone on their phones. We aim to capture the most meaningful content in order to create the most perfect wedding video we can that is catered to our bride and groom. Often during these bride preps, there can be down time between getting hair and makeup done, & so the phones come out.

The problem with this is that we are trying to get smiling faces, funny conversations, or nostalgic stories that could truly benefit this portion of the video. So we have some suggestions to our future brides that may want to pass this onto their wedding party. Ask them ahead of time to keep their phone usage to a minimum during the filming, for the sake of your video. Maybe bring some fun games, or make up some creative ones that get the girls engaged with each other and you (the bride). We promise it will be worth it! There is a huge difference in the final making of a video when watching the end result of what you've waited months for! Would you rather see your friends and family looking down at their phones on one of the most important days of your life? Or laughing, smiling, and talking with each other? We think the answer is obvious. Just some food for thought!
