We Can't Make Up the Makeup

We like to let our future brides know why we do what we do, and the importance of each aspect. This post will focus on why capturing the bridal prep is so crucial to your video. Our first location is wherever you choose to get your hair and makeup done. We join you at this location to make sure we film the getting ready process of your big day. We tend to open most wedding videos with shots of the bride getting ready because it sets the tone for the video. It is highly important that your make up artists are aware and comfortable with our presence capturing you with the camera. We do our best to keep to ourselves as much as possible, and we don't interfere with the artists' work. Our goal is to capture you in the best lighting possible, so we may adjust some lights or windows, but it's always to our, your, and the artist's advantage. Some makeup and/or hair artist's may suggest "faking" a movement for us when they aren't in true action, but we just want to remind you that we are videographers, not photographers, so we try to get the genuine moments that cannot be faked. We not only capture the bride getting ready, but the bridesmaids as well! We do this in order to make sure we are including the bridal party (loved ones you probably want shown in the video), and to make sure we have a sufficient amount of footage. The bridal prep shots are some of the most stunning shots we capture throughout the day, so we just ask to give your makeup artists a heads up that we will be filing their hard work! Our best advice during this portion of the day is to be yourself, and go on as if you aren't on camera. Genuine videography is always the best to have when putting your final video together.
